New Solid Waste Agreement

After a competitive bidding process, a new agreement with CR&R will begin on July 1, 2025. The new solid waste agreement brings exciting updates and improvements for residents and businesses, including:
- New Trucks - with collision avoidance, leak detection, and fire suppression systems
- New Carts and Bins - to be distributed in spring 2025
- New Kitchen Countertop Pails - to collect food scraps conveniently in your kitchen
- New Community Events
- Two free compost events and a "how-to" compost workshop annually
- Annual bulky item drop-off day in addition to two curbside bulky item pickups
- Annual household hazardous waste drop-off event
- Two household hazardous waste pickups per year
- Sharps pre-paid mail-back program
Residential Cart Exchange
Between April 14 through September 30, 2025, Lake Forest residential customers will receive brand new color-coded carts that comply with Senate Bill 1383 container colors, which will standardize the separation of trash, recyclables, organic materials.

New Solid Waste Rates - Effective July 1, 2025
In accordance with the new solid waste agreement, new rates for the solid waste services will take effect on July 1, 2025.

Trash
CR&R Incorporated provides trash collection services in Lake Forest using a fleet of natural gas vehicles which will lower emissions and be more environmentally friendly, as well as new lightweight commercial recycling trucks reducing wear and tear on City streets.
