Sidewalk Inspection Policy
The Public Works Maintenance Division determines that it is in the best interest of the community to ensure that sidewalks in the public right-of-way are inspected and maintained for safe pedestrian travel. To that end, the implementation of the Safe Sidewalk and Tree Enhancement Policy ("SafeSTEP") to inspect public sidewalks for trip displacements on a regular basis and perform maintenance to remove the trip displacement will ensure safe sue by the public. Thus, the City will repair or replace deficient sidewalks, within the City right-of-way, as funding becomes available.
Street Pavement Management
The City of Lake Forest performs biennial updates of its Pavement Management Program to assist policy makers in the best use of City funds for street maintenance. This Division collaborates with the Public Works Engineering Division to continually enhance and maintain the City's street Pavement Condition Index at an impressive average of 75 out of 100. The City's 37,372,480 square feet of street network is managed through the Pavement Capital Improvement Program and street maintenance.
