Road Construction Projects Street Sweeping Trash Pickup Local Utility Providers
The Public Works Department is dedicated to providing high quality public facilities and services to the Lake Forest community. The Department serves the community by developing, constructing, and maintaining the public infrastructure, which includes all public streets, sidewalks, storm drains, traffic signals, landscaping, parks, buildings, and solid waste collection services. In addition, the department checks plans, inspects grading and infrastructure construction for new developments, and implements the City's Capital Improvement Program (CIP). The CIP is responsive to our community by delivering construction projects that enhance the quality of life in Lake Forest.
Services
The Public Works Department's goal is to provide a wide range of maintenance and repair services to the community while providing excellent customer service.
The department consists of five divisions:
- Administrative: Overall operation of the department, administering and overseeing the City's five Maintenance Divisions.
- Maintenance and Landscape: Maintenance of City buildings and facilities including the Civic Center facility, Lake Forest Sports Park Recreation building, Etnies Skate Park and all other public buildings. Maintains the City's parks, medians, publicly owned trees, and other landscaped areas such as city facility landscaping. Maintains the City's streets, roadway signs, sidewalks, traffic signals, streetlights, and storm drains.
- Engineering: Responsible for preparation of plans and specifications, solicits bids and monitors construction work for City infrastructure.
- Traffic: Responsible for operation and maintenance of traffic signals and installation of traffic signing and striping, including parking controls, on public streets.
- Environmental Compliance: Implements the City’s Pollution Prevention and Enforcement program.
