CDBG is a formula grant allocated to local governments to develop viable urban communities by providing decent housing, a suitable living environment, and expanding economic opportunities principally for persons of low and moderate income. Eligible programs and projects must satisfy one or more of the following objectives: provide a benefit to low- and moderate-income persons, prevent or eliminate slums or blight, and/or assist with a natural disaster. Additionally, HUD has identified "presumed beneficiary" categories eligible for CDBG funding. Non-profit organizations interested in obtaining CDBG funding or learning if their particular services are CDBG-eligible, should email Adrian Grijalva, Economic Development/Housing Manager to obtain further information. Your organization could also be added to the interest list for the next round of funding. The Notice of Funding Availability (NOFA) is published in the fall of each calendar year.
