Inicio 25 Years Later: Remembering Marine Corps Air Station El Toro and its Legacy 25 Years Later: Remembering Marine Corps Air Station El Toro and its Legacy Date: Wednesday, July 10, 2024 Time: 6:00pm Location: Lake Forest Performing Arts Center Category: Special Events Lake Forest was shaped by MCAS El Toro - and the base continues to have an impact on the City 25 years after. Asking residents to share memories of the base drew 44,274 Post Impressions with an engagement of 8,392 - far above a normal post. Even with the base gone a quarter of a century, even with a new name of Lake Forest, El Toro remains a military city. We've posted some of those memories on the event page, www.lakeforestca.gov/mcaseltoro along with photos from the base. This event will give long-time residents a chance to remember and celebrate the base, and those who have moved to the City in the last 25 years will learn of the base's impact, and continuing impact. Indeed, two of our local Council members, Doug Cirbo and Robert Pequeno, are retired Marines moved here when they were assigned to MCAS El Toro and then made the area their homes. Like true Marines, they continue to serve their community today.
