Lake Forest City leaders on Friday expressed condolences to the family and friends of former City Councilmember and retired US Army Colonel Thomas Cagley, who passed away on October 24.
Col. Cagley was a member of the City Council from January to November 2018, but his service to the community and country goes much deeper than those 11 months. After serving in the US Army for 37 years, Col. Cagley served on the Orange County Grand Jury, and was a member of the Texas Emergency Reaction Center for six years, during which he responded to natural disasters
While on the City Council, Col. Cagley represented Lake Forest on the OC Library Advisory Board and the Joint Powers Insurance Authority. He also was a founder of the Lake Forest US Marine Corps Support Committee.
Col. Cagley did not seek re-election to the Council because his wife, Nancy, was battled an illness. She preceded him in death. The couple married in 2012.
“Our sincere condolences go out to Col. Cagley’s family and friends,” Mayor Mark Tettemer said. “All of Lake Forest is thankful to Col. Cagley not only for his service to the City but to the Country.”
Services have not been announced.
