Lake Forest City Councilwoman Leah Basile on Tuesday announced she will step down from the Council because her family is moving out of the City. Councilwoman Basile was elected to the City Council in 2016.
In her closing comments at the end of the Council meeting, Councilwoman Basile said she was honored to be elected to the City Council. “I am pleased with the work I have done in a short amount of time,” she said. “I’ve done my best for all residents of Lake Forest and I always worked for the best interests of the community.”
Among the accomplishments that Councilwoman Basile listed:
Councilwoman Basile said she also valued her time as a Director of the Orange County Fire Authority. The City also became completely debt-free during her tenure.
But her most treasured memories, she said, was when she could help residents.
“What I enjoyed most was helping people and solving problems. My favorite was my weekly office hours, when I could visit staff and meet with residents,” Councilwoman Basile said. “I have found working for the residents of Lake Forest a great honor and privilege and I know the work I have done during my tenure has made Lake Forest a better place for all of our families.”
Councilwoman Basile will still hold her City Hall office hours on August 22 and 29. The City Council next meets September 3.
