Lake Forest City leaders rely on input and recommendations from members of several topic-specific commissions. Each commission is made up of five residents who are each appointed by a member of the City Council. Commissioners serve four-year terms. The City's appointed commissions include:
The Community Services Commission, which meets on the third Thursday of each month to review matters related to parks and recreation programs.
The Planning Commission, which meets on the second Thursday of each month to review applications for new development, proposed zoning changes and proposed land subdivisions.
The Traffic and Parking Commission, which meets on the fourth Thursday of each month and advises the City Council on issues relating to parking and the safe and efficient movement of traffic, including vehicles, bicycles, pedestrians and other modes of transportation.
