On Tuesday, July 7, the City Council approved the Emergency Temporary Outdoor Operating Permit which would allow retail uses, restaurants, personal care services, instructional studios, religious institutions, and other businesses could benefit from additional outdoor space to accommodate social distancing to make use of parking lots and other outdoor areas, excluding landscaped areas.
To streamline the permitting process, staff recommends property managers or owners apply for the permit, allowing for a holistic view of the entire center to identify all areas which can be utilized for the expanded commercial activities. This would eliminate the need for individual tenants to apply for the permit and reduce the overall staff time spent reviewing and processing the applications.
