Orange County Sheriff's Department Deputy Spotlight

Serving the City of Lake Forest, Homeless Liaison Officer (HLO) Chet Parker is breaking the homeless cycle one person at a time. Over the past two years, HLO Parker has provided homeless individuals with a bed to sleep on, vouchers for food, socks and clothes to keep warm, as well as finding permanent housing and reuniting some individuals with their families. “It is not just a job for me but a passion to help people get back on track,” said HLO Parker whose days begin at 5:30 a.m. To date, HLO Parker has helped over 50 homeless individuals and connected them with resources and services.

For his efforts, HLO Parker was recognized as Deputy of the Year as part of the Orange County Sheriff’s Department Recognition program in March 2017. The award is given for overall accomplishments and contributions over the 2016 calendar year and considers things like teamwork, work quality, customer service, communication, community engagement, community feedback, and attitude towards the job.
